

I don't think any converter has burnt out either, since everything works fine if I hook the cable back up to the onboard serial port on the Win7 machine.ĭidn't really get anywhere with the NPort. The cable itself is custom made and does not have any electronics on either end.

I'm not sure what's going on inside of the control panel itself, but there's a DB25 connector on the side of it that the PC connects to. If you have this adapter they did "burn out," over time. One other thought, and it is a long shot, does this device use the 15 pin RS-232/RS-485 adapter like many other GE Fanuc devices do? If so there is more than just wires in that adapter, there is a small chipset in it that does the 232-485 conversion. The CNC machine errors, and Cimco sends the file to the abyss if I attempt to transfer.

I've tried both sets of settings in Device Manager, both with Cimco set as per the OP. On the Win10 machine, it doesn't work no matter how I have it configured. On Win7 machine, it doesn't matter what I have set in Device Manager (I've tried with the defaults and with the settings in the OP) as long as it's configured correctly in Cimco. I've tried it both ways, and it doesn't seem to make a difference in either case. My thinking is that if you don't have these set the same your device may never see DSR.Īctually a great question. If you go to device manager > Ports > pick your COM port > Port Settings you can set these settings. This might sound silly but where are you setting your baud, flow control, data/stop bits, and parity settings at? If this is only being set in Cimco software do you need to echo the same settings in device manager. As soon as I disconnect the terminal session, the CNC machine errors. al., which ties up the port so that Cimco cannot send the file. If the remote computer is not ready, the CNC machine will error with "086 I/O DEVICE INTERFACE" which Google tells me " Before you can send a file, you have to "prep" the CNC machine, which somehow lets the CNC machine know that the remote computer is ready to send the file. I have a CNC machine (controlled by a FANUC Series 16-W controller, if that helps) that we send NC files through RS-232 from a computer.
